James A. O'Leary, MD

Dr. James A. O’Leary joined Midlands Orthopaedics on July 1, 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. His internship was in general surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., where he also did his residency in orthopaedic surgery.

Dr. O’Leary completed a fellowship in sports medicine and knee and shoulder surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

He has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons with added qualifications in Sports Medicine, and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, S.C. Orthopaedic Association and the Piedmont Orthopaedic Society. Dr. O’Leary also works with athletic teams at the University of South Carolina and several Lexington County high schools.
